Douglas L. Dreyer was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Doug obtained his B.A. and J.D. from Mercer University, in Macon, Georgia. Doug was admitted to the Georgia Bar in 1988, and he has been practicing in Newnan for over twenty years. Doug is a member of the Newnan-Coweta Bar Association, the State Bar of Georgia, the American Trial Lawyers Association, and the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, and Doug served as the Chairman for the Coweta County Indigent Defense Counsel from 1993-1995. Doug is admitted to all Georgia state courts, and he is admitted to the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. Doug specializes in family law.

After a 31 year marriage my ex husband thought he was just going to skip out on his family responsibilities and obligations. But this was not going to happen under Doug Dreyer's watch. Mr. Dreyer saw from the beginning what I had been dealing with and made sure I was taken care of before, during and after my divorce. I was more than pleased with his work in the handling of our mediation, getting the things I wanted as well as what belonged to me. It was a pleasure working with Doug, because of his knowledge of the laws in custody cases as well as divorces, my divorce was over in less than 6 months and I have two children. My X’s attorney try to play hardball and take advantage of my being disabled, Doug made sure that was not going to happen! Now, whenever I see Doug out, he’ll stop me, asking me how things are going, ask how my children are and sometimes give me a hug! I have reached out to him in the past and recently about laws particularly to my case, he answered then immediately and never asked for a dime. I have and will keep recommending Doug to everyone I know...I believe in him, he’s a smart attorney and a likable man! Doug is an excellent attorney. He has handled my Divorce case quickly and with professionalism. He Stopped a child alienation attempt by my wife and kept me from getting ran over. Thank you to Doug & Claudette for assisting in our step-parent adoption. The situation was tremulous in the beginning coming off of the heals of a messy divorce and nasty custody battle. Doug kept my husband and I well informed of what to expect, made sure all of the paperwork was done correctly the first time, acted as a barrier between me & my ex-husband, treated my children with kindness & respect to the point of sharing a personal story with my 14 year old son to put his mind and heart at ease. The day of Court, Doug made sure that we were able to go back to chambers, meet with the Judge privately and discuss our situation openly in a private and intimate setting. Our adoption was approved by the Judge the first time in court. Doug - we appreciate your dedicate effort and time to our special situation. You and Claudette definitely handled my family with the utmost respect and positive encouragement.
